1) Can you tell us the story of the band ?We are the band [soon] from Hamburg (Germany). [soon] consists of four members: singer Eric, guitar player Lenny, bass player Markus, and 7even on the drums. Eric and Lenny founded the band in the year 2000. Our first album 'end isolation' was released 2006 in Germany, Austria and Italy, and 2007 in France.
2) Why did you choose [Soon] as name for your band?
On one hand, we were looking for a short name that would be easy to remember. On the other hand, we tried to find something concise. The two brackets make the name more distinctive, they dont have any special meaning.
3) How can you describe your music?
Generally, I see our music between rock and metal with a lot of dark elements. In a typical [soon]-song we try to combine different elements like interesting beats, hard riffing and strong melodies. Maybe that's why we get very positive feedback from metalheads as well as from gothics and rock fans.
4) Can you tell us more about 'End Isolation'? The song writing processus, The main theme of the lyrics......
The recordings for 'end isolation' were our first professional recording sessions. We enjoyed the time in the studio very much. 'End isolation' is our debut album and was released in France this year. After all, we are very happy abo
ut the positive feedback we get by music media especially in Germany and Italy. But we are
also very glad about the good resonance we get from some French magazines and from French fans of [soon]'s music.
You asked about the song writing process:
First, we develop some musical ideas. In a second step, I try to find a lyrical topic that fits into the atmosphere of that song, and write the lyrics. And last, we try to arrange every song in its own specific way.
There are no main themes that I am writing about. So, in general, there is no lyrical concept on 'end isolation'. Almost all lyrics have an autobiographical background, with one exception,
which is 'Timid Child'. You know, I think about many different things, and from time to time, some ideas seem interesting enough to write about.5) What is your best memory with the band?
We had played a lot of concerts (approximately 100 shows during the last three years) in Germany and The Netherlands. We really enjoy playing live shows. I remember some fantastic shows were we had a great exchange with the audience and a very special atmosphere on stage. The best memories are related to quite intense and exciting [soon]-live shows.
6) What is your influences?
Mainly we are influenced by other Rock- and Metalbands. I think that bands like Paradise Lost and Type O'Negative have had a big impact on us. Moreover, some progressive bands like Psych
otic Waltz have been important for the development of our music. My current favourites are Paradise Lost,
Disturbed and 30 Seconds to Mars.7) Your dream as musician?
It is a personal dream to me, to play with [soon] in other European Countries. If it was possible for us to give concerts in France one day, it would be perfect to me!!!
8) What is the spirit of metal for you?
I think, good Metal-Music is natural, powerful and full of emotions. In my opinion, the spirit of metal is carried on by bands who are able to integrate all these elements in their music, for example Paradise Lost or Type O' Negative. For me, Metal is the only type of music that touches me emotionally that deeply!!!
9) Will you come in france for a gig?
It would be an honour for us to give concerts in France. You know, we try to play as many concerts as possible to promote the album 'end isolation'. But unfortunately, up to now, we only had the opportunity to play in Germany and the Netherlands! I would be very glad, if we could perform some shows in France!
