Hellfueled (VO)

Forget black, forget death-metal. If you need your dose of pure heavyyyyyyy-metal the way it was meant to be played, Hellfueled is a swedish dream came true. The perfect alliance of classic songwriting from the 80’s reinforced by a strong 21st century metallic fury. A noble & strong music to headbang all night long, these guys know how to make you rock for sure. Here’s an interview in july 2006 with guitarist Jocke Lundgren.

interview Hellfueled>I discovered your music a few weeks ago when a friend of mine brought me your last album. He just said : 'Well if you like the best of Ozzy Osbourne (Bark At The Moon, Ultimate Sin, No Rest For The Wicked) but you want it to sound much heavier, this band is for you !'. & i must admit he was totally right : Hellfueled kicked my ass ! Could you introduce your band to the french metalheads with a kind of history of your band ?
We started the band in 98. Just old friends started to jam out just for fun. Yes the typical bandstart i know! Recorded 7 demo cds i think in a pretty short time. We´ve always been pretty productive and still are. Rehearsing lots of new songs right now for the next album… damn it’s heavy son! haha! Got hooked up with Black Lodge in 2004 after pretty heavy airplay on swedish metal radio. We just play traditional heavy music in some kind of more modern way… maybe..!? Straight up heavy guitars and rock choruses. I think most people into some kind of metal, hardrock can enjoy it.

>Do you have a particular idea for your lack of recognition here in France ? I mean you play great music, you come from Sweden & you don't look like a bunch of old farts. Was it a label problem ?
I think that thing is pretty much up to the record label to promote us there. We would love to come and play some shows in France! Bring us people!

>I mentioned Ozzy Osbourne because your singer seems really inspired by the madman, & Zakk Wylde also looks like a great inspiration for your guitarist. But i must also say Hellfueled don't sound like a clone because you bring more power to this kind of classic metal. What kind of music do you listen to regularly ? Sweden seems inexhaustible when it c
interview Hellfueledomes for extreme metal. Do you like death-metal ?
Me personally listen to all kinds of music. I love everything from ZZ Top, Arch Enemy to U2 and Dismember! In other words everything pretty much. I don’t give a shit about music styles, its good or bad music for me. On the new songs you can expect even groovier, heavier and even softer stuff going on.

>How do you compose inside the band ? Is it a common process ? Do you jam a lot before a new song's finished ?
The process so far has been me doing all the music at home, then bring it up to the boys in the rehearsing place. Then we start to jam on it and do some small arrangements changes here and there. It’s a very smooth thing in the band writing new songs, everyone knows what to do kind of. After the music is complete Andy starts with his vocal melodies and lyrics, and hopefully we got a new blasting Hellfueled song!

>You work hard on your chorus. Some songs are very difficult to get out of your brain once you listened to. What's your secret ?
Thats the way we want it, glad you mentioned it! The secret is to 'alka' alot! He he!

>'Born II Rock' 's production is huge. It was recorded in Fredman studio & produced by Fredrik Nordstrom. Was it a cool experience to work with him ? Weren't you afraid to get a standardized sound ?
Fredrik is a great friend of us. He knows exactly what we want and just pushes it to a higher level all the time. He is the man! I think he really think this kind of music is so fun to do, so he really gives his heart into it. It’s a last to be in the studio with him, lots and lots of laughs! We really love that crazy guy! He will produce the next album for sure.

interview Hellfueled size="3" color="#CCCCCC">>When it comes to lyrics, what kind of subjects do you deal in your texts?
I think Andys got everything from car racing to some deeper things in there. That’s totally Andys lyrics so far. The song 'Girls Girls' is pretty deep i think....

>I didn't listened to your first album 'Volume 1' yet. What are the differences with the brand new one ? How were medias & fans reactions for 'Volume 1' ? Did you take notice of some critics & try to progress ?
I think the first album 'Vol One' is more slamming and alarming, maybe a little more straight in your face. The reviews and reputation was real hyped on that mothertrucker! Think the next album will be a little bit of a mix of the first and 2nd album with some even heavier and groovier elements.

>You took part to the Gods of Metal in Italy & will participate to the great Wacken Open Air festival this summer. What do you wait for this kind of opportunity to play in front of a gigantic audience ?
It´s been a real dream come true, awesome! This is only the beginning, we´ll be around for a long time..

>Before Hellfueled, were you playing in other bands who deserve to be mentioned ?
No not really, just playing cover songs for the most time. Having a good time and jam out great classic metal tunes!

>Do you think you will play soon for french metalheads ? Last words are yours, thanx a lot for 'Born II Rock' !!!
We really really hope to come and play for you guys in France! Hope we will come with a bigger band this spring maybe, can’t say more now! Thanks for checking us out and SEE YAA!!! www.hellfueled.com www.blacklodge.se
