Biografie : Violent Devoties

Austrian Death Metal artist VIOLENT DEVOTIES was found in September 2000 by Gerald Valentin (guitar) and Manuel Rainer (drums). As they did some tracks Heiko E. joined the band as a singer and in march 2001 Kathe came in the band as a bass-player. With that line-up Violent Devoties played their first show in Slovenia at famous Club K4 with Slovenian Prospect.

At the Show No Mercy Festival (April 2001) Kathe and Gerald had massive problems with singer Heiko. A few days later the band decided to kick him out of the band. From this time up Kathe took place of the singer. A lot of gigs with established bands like Six Feet Under, Macabre, Vader, Dying Fetus, Cryptopsy, followed before the band booked TST studio (Disastrous Murmur) to record their first album entitled "Grind Bitch Perversions" with producer Reinhard Trost. This record included nine tracks of pure old school Death Metal. After that release in September 2001 (released by Metal Wrath Music) the band played a lot of gigs in Austria, Slovenia and Germany. They also got some more offers to support Behemoth, God Dethroned, Night In Gales etc. etc.

In summer 2002 Violent Devoties began to write new songs for a new record. In October 2002 Resound Gr!nd Records re-released "Grind Bitch Perversions" with new artwork and one bonus track "Zombie Amok", recorded live at the Orpheum Graz. New gigs in Austria, Slovenia and Hungary followed.

2003 brought the band some live activities and a lot of time to work on their new songs. In spring 2004 the band got a second guitar player and first guitar player Gerald also took place of the vocals due bass player Kathe stopped his activities in the band for familary reasons. A few months later the new guitar player already had to leave the band after recording a promotion track for a local compilation. Now Manuel and Gerald were finishing the new songs to record the new album in Czech Republics Hellsound Studio with Honza Kapak, already known through his band Avenger. This recording had been done in a very short time, recorded and mixed within four days. The mastering had been done by Christoph Schnabel in Vienna, Austria. After the recording Kathe came back in the band as a session bass player, and in November the band got a new second guitar player in Phil, known from his work in Gabriels Cry, a local Black Metal band.

In spring 2005, already late, the band started the work on the artwork/layout for the upcoming album "Entwined By Vengeance". After several problems the band decided to replace bass player Kathe. Sheepnoric Ent./ex-Khiron guitar player Gerd Kollmann became new bass player in Violent Devoties. Gerd had been already in the band as webmaster and designer of the actual cover/booklet artwork. Finally in the year 2005 the band seems also to be recognized by local media. In March the band got "Band of the month" by Youthline Klagenfurt, in April the band was featured in one of the biggest local newspaper, in June Violent Devoties was nominated and voted for "Most popular band in town". Through the win of "Most popular band in town" the band got massive promotion in several local newspapers and media. Since March 2005 the band is also endorsed by Level 27 Clothing and Nephalim Clothing.
The official release date for the album "Entwined By Vengeance" for Europe is August 20th and September 10th for Canada and United States. Watch out to get it, through Resound Gr!nd Records or Century Media Distribution, or lots of fine underground distros worldwide.

In December 2005 the band started the writing for the upcoming album which will be recorded this summer 2006. Before the band enters studio to record the next full length album the bands first album "Grind Bitch Perversions" has also been re-released under the title "The Grind Bitch demology". This CDr is limited to 300 copies and includes the bands first album, demo and pre-productions tracks, a live track, and a remix version for the track "Scarlet Horrors". This CD will be released by Vengeance Media Group in August 2006. In April 2006 a new bass player had been found in roadie/merchandiser Duffy, and Gerd overtook the place as 2nd guitar player. Finally mid November 2006 the band entered Fuzzroom Studio (Disharmonic Orchestra, Naked Lunch...) to record new material which will partly appear on the upcoming EP "Within the great and the venom".
