Unquintessence was created by the irreversible demise of 2 others Metal bands, respectively; "Trough Sombre Sorrowfields" (Sweden-like death/black Metal) and "Naggaroth" (Incoherent Trash/Death Metal). Upon the fall of "Naggaroth", only two souls remained: Nargaeh'nroth & Vykthor. They decided to once again join forces to create something far more devastating and hateful.

At first they recruited Arkhaan which speed up the whole process of creating new material of pure Black Metal Mayhem. Nargaeh'nroth being in Europe at this time, what is now called "Unquintessence" began to take form. At his return, the conceptual and lyrical elements we're added, and only one thing was missing… a blasting war drummer which not only will be a milestone to the band but also that would understand and share our dreadful vision.

Soon after we found that Soul in Scythrawl, which left "Trough Sombre Sorrowfield" (thus bringing down the band along with it) to join our ranks. In early 2000, the cycle was completed, allowing total Chaos to be unleashed...

We are now in 2003, "Ruined" has been out for some time now, and we are working on new materials for the upcoming album, which will be entitled; "LOCUSTISM; the Art of Infecting, Corrupt and Die". Arkhaan and Vykthor are no longer part of Unquintessence, Ill-fate is now on the guitar duty and we are now looking for a new bassist.
