Biografie : The Guestz

The band was born in Rome in 2006, amongst four friends discussing about how cool it would be to form a rock 'n' roll band together.
After playing with several bands (Lord Brummel, Theatres Des Vampires, Decadenza, Angus band, etc.), guitarist Jonna – a sort of living legend in Rome's rock/metal scene – decided to form a band together with singer and long time friend Mimmo God. At the same time, bassist Rob ‘n' Roll (who already played in glam band Bubblegum Kiss) and drummer Matt Svarione were looking for people to form a hard rock band. So, they soon happened to gather around a table and a couple of beers later the band was ready, with a bunch of covers (AC/DC, Motorhead, The Cult, Buckcherry and others) for the first rehearsal.
But even before playing together and choosing a name for the band, they had a gig scheduled, supporting Soul Doctor (German band featuring Tommy Heart of Fair Warning) and Italian rockers Markonee. The show was advertised as Soul Doctor + Markonee + guests, and Jonna suggested to call the band The Guests: since no one had any better idea, they kept the name, slightly changing it into The GuestZ to avoid coincidence of names.

After several gigs, in January 2008 the band started pre-production for a debut cd, and in April they entered the well known Temple Of Noise studios to record five songs. The cd, entitled “Not for Money, Just for Glory”, was released on May 30th: a mix of classic 80s hard rock and AC/DC-like rough guitars. The song Jonna Wants Two Beers is featured in the cd include with the September issue of the italian Rock Hard magazine, together with Motorhead, Crown Of Thorns, Night Rangers, Anathema and others; the cd is very well received by the music press:
"An outstanding performance" [Roxx Zone - IT]
"Good luck, the god of rock'n'roll is with you" [Artists And Bands - IT]
"One of the best newcomers of the italian scene" [Metal Beta - IT]
"A highly-polished production work" [Hard Sounds - IT]
"A band with a shit-load of potential" [Glitzine - UK]
“A fresh and really cool cd for all Sleaze Rock bands lovers from Italy and Sweden" [Sleaze Metal - GER]
"The band shows personality and good taste, rare gifts in these times" [Slam! - IT]
"They're the type of band that will live and die by big hooks" [Rock And a Hard Place - USA]
"The right intensity to rock the people in the club" [Metal Maniac - IT]

So far, the band played in the most important clubs in Rome (Stazione Birra, Jailbreak, Big Bang, etc.), opening act for Adam Bomb, Kee Marcello, The Quireboys (and the above mentioned Soul Doctor and Markonee of course), and being part of the 2nd edition of the Rome 'n' Roll Festival; they also played at the 2008 edition of the Summer Glamattakk, the most important rock 'n' roll festival in Italy, with Swedish sleaze-rockers Gemini Five headliners.
