Biografie : Strigampire

Strigampire was born with the remaining members of a band Deco formed five years ago, with a couple of long-time friends. The band split-up not so long after its formation, because Deco was the only guy who was really motivated, and who was actually able to play his instrument. This project has never really "died", because as soon as the drummer and the two vocalists left, guitarist Guillaume Comeau and Deco, who, at that time was also a guitarist, recruited lead guitarist Blew and then-bassist Jo L. Stevens. Dec became what he always wanted to be in his band, the vocalist. When Jo L. Stevens joined, he fastly became very friend with Dec. Then, drummer J.-F. Poirier completed the line-up. Quickly after, Comeau and Jo switched instruments, and Jo beacame what he is today, the rythm guitarist.

The band wrote its first song with this line-up, and called themselves "L.O.R.D." (Lord Of Rotten Decay). Soon after, Guillaume left the band. The four remaining members had a hard time trying to find a new bassist who had enough motivation to become the new member. Renaud Morel played bass one year with them, then left. During that year, the guys were really into black metal and bands like Cradle of Filth and Hecate Enthroned. So, they changed their name for the darker-sounding "Strigampire". This name comes from two words: "Striga" (a Romanian word meaning "screaming vampire"), and "ampire", which simply comes from the word vampire. After Renaud's departure from Strigampire, the band recruited Guy Provencher to handle bass duties. Guy has been very useful for the band, and he is the one who played bass in Strig's first demo, named "A Dehydrated Corpse". This demo has been recorded in one January night in 2003, at "La Découverte" High School's (St-Léonard d'Aston) auditorium. But, just a few months before that, on November 29th, drummer J.-F. Poirier had left the band and Dec took his place on the drums. Deco was doing most of vocal parts while playing drums, and Jo did some vocals as well. Strig became a band with two vocalists. Guy has been replaced by the new bassist named Frédéric A.Dubeau on spring 2004. Years 2004 & 2005 has been awesome for Strig who played gigs with great bands like Quo Vadis, Augury, Horfixion, Magister Dixit, Divinity and Fuck the Facts. Recently, this year, another change in the line-up occured. Drummer Yannick Laplante joined Strigampire, so Deco is back to being the lead vocalist. This change makes the band even better, because their live performance are more energetic and have a better ambience.
Finally, we would like to thank Samuel Landry and J.-F. "Godasse" Houle, and all those who has given us the opportunity to play with all those great metal bands. We also want to thank all the bands we played with, and all the people who support us. You guys fucking rock!
ROCK ON! 666
