Biografie : Sorath (CZ)

In April 1994, the first demo named "666 ... To Awakening" (40 minutes) was made in an amateur 4-tracked recording studio in Pilsen. There were sold almost 300 pieces of this recording which contained 8 songs in the black-death style. The first concert of the group was in autumn 1994. At that time a new demo was being prepared. "The Voices" was recorded in 8-tracked studio Demos in Prague. About 500 cassettes were sold. SORATH started to give more concerts. Positive notices appeared in some magazines. Foreign underground called, and "the Voices" was sold into the distribution of Autonomy prod.(Ger), Shiver rec.(Bel) and Adipocere rec.(F).

In autumn 1995 SORATH was contacted by the firm Pussy God rec. and offered to make a split CD with the group UNCLEAN. In December 1995, this CD was recorded in 16-tracked studio Benas. SORATH has got 7 songs of total duration 28 minutes there. This new material was named "the Matache Chavala" and a bit later it came out as a solo MC. Musical periodicals evaluated the new recording mostly positively. The offers of distribution from the foreign firms followed. This time 1,200 CDs and 500 cassettes were sold - SORATH is in demand . A sequence of concerts with Czech and foreign bands followed. SORATH travelled to Slovakia and Germany several times.

In April 1997 the split EP SORATH/ISACAARUM (Epidemie rec.) came out. Here SORATH presents its new composition "Enlightenment" and newly recorded song "Torment" from the first demo. In May the firm Leviathan rec. showed an interest to record a following SORATH´s CD. The new CD called "Gnosis" was recorded during July 1997. Four pieces of the demo "666 ... To Awakening", which were newly recorded in the end of 1996, appeared there as a bonus. Closely before the CD "Gnosis" was recorded, the bass player Martin Tree had left the group. Mar Markion, a new bass player, came in October 1997. "The Gnosis" came out in February 1998. Unfortunately, the approach of small foreign labels didn´t match up with the group´s ideas. Therefore outside the Czech Republic the most CDs were sold in Germany thanks to the Nuclear Blast and the Last Episode rec.

Simultaneously with the promotion of this recording, the group started to work on a new CD for the Leviathan rec. The CD "Omnes Dii Gentium Daemonia" was finally recorded in April 2000, but it came out in September 2000. It was supported by several concerts and a small (but successful) tour around the Czech Republic named "The Metal Breath tour of 2000" with the bands like INGROWING, FLESHLESS, BREAKING BEADS, DYING PASSION. In those days the first marks of later cooperation with the Czech label Metal Breath of Pavel Maňas appeared. At first its offers were not accepted by the group mostly due to a difficult financial situation. Finally the band had to leave the firm Leviathan rec. because of its indifferent and irresponsible behaviour in the area of distribution and promotion. Therefore the year 2001 was not very successful for SORATH - its activity was weak, almost being stopped.

But the following summer the group appeared on important actions again, e.g. on "The Metal Breath tour of 2002" accompanied by DYING PASSION and SAD HARMONY. At that time the band was already working on a new CD, and a contract with a new music publisher, which had shown to be necessary, was being prepared too. At the end of February 2003, the material on a new CD was finally ready.

Publication of CD Vivimos En Perpetua Guerra concludes in July 2003 under Metal Breath Production. That summer the band is presenting by life performences on Czech festivals. Two of the most famous are Brutal Assault and Open Hell. On 30.8.2003 the band celebrates already its 10th birthday with great presence of fans. This happens in Pilsen Club Divadlo pod Lampou with TROLLECH and SAD HARMONY. The autumn 2003 and winter 2004 is reserved mostly for life performances of new material. Its top was an event in Prague club Abaton 20.4.2004 with Norwegian black metal celebrity MAYHEM. At beginning of Summer 2004 realisation of common split 7"EP is agreed with Pilsen TROLLECH. PIGEONSHIT AGENCY gave a promise to realise this EP. Annual Metal Breath Tour was realized in September 2004 with THE RAYS OF THE SUN and Czech death black fixed star AVENGER. The tour was successful and fan`s support huge. After a long period SORATH visited Germany again in October 2004. In Dresden they played in a club Heavy Duty with CYNIC SEQUENCE. Final arrangements for EP named SAROS culminates in the end of 2004. It should be completed in March 2005. The recording will be realized in a studio HELLSOUND under production support of Honza Kapak from AVENGER.
