Biografie : Presage (TUR)

Presage, renowned for being one of Turkey’s first metal bands, was formed in 1985 in Ankara by Alper Türek. The band swiftly gained a significant niche in Turkish heavy metal community by appearing in various festivals and solo concerts, and pioneered many Turkish bands who perform similar music.
Presage decided to move on with a new vision by Alper Türek and guitarist Antar Turgay in 2010. While the duo continued composing new songs, Kutay Soysal (drums) and Fatih Korkmaz (vocals) joined them in 2011, giving the band its current formation.

The group entirely focused on new songs as of 2010, taking a decision to record a new album in late 2011, with the contribution of Tarkan Gözübüyük, one of the prominent names of rock music in Turkey, and Cihan Barış, another important name, one of the band’s founder members as producers.

The album was recorded in Istanbul Babajim Studios during May 2012, and was sent over to Istanbul Flat Productions Studios for overdub, editing and mixing phases, then finally reached Grammy winner Evren Göknar from Los Angeles Capital Studios for the mastering phase.

The album’s cover art is a work of Gottfried Helnwein, a world famous photographer, named “Blue Boy”, and the original art piece is exhibited in San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts.

All music and lyrics in the album “Planet Hatred” is the collective work of band members, around the theme of solitude, despair, fear, and the predicament of humans and the world itself as a consequence.

Upon the completion of preparations, Presage gave its first big concert on February 17th, 2013 in Istanbul Bostancı Show Center with Pentagram, one of Turkey’s most significant rock bands. Presage’s first album has been published under Universal Music Publishing Group Taxim Edition on April 25th, 2013.
