Biografie : PCYST

PCYST was formed back in 1997 under the name Polinoidal Cyst.
A very dark and experimental Industrial band in the same vain as Skinny Puppy, Throbbing Gristle, Ministry, The Legendary Pink Dot., etc...
The band started with several members. The original members being Cyst, Mike V, Adam L, Joey L, and Jaime D. It was a bizarre crew that were all heavy into drugs and would often get very messed up and play music.

They released an album in 1998 called "Dead at the Base of Your Spine" and it was 72 minutes of some of the most bizarre music you will ever hear.

After the release of their first album, they then started releasing material like crazy with sometimes only one member writting a track or all members writting a track.

In 2002, and after several albums had been released, the band somewhat fell apart as some band members had found religion (Adam L and Joey L) and some bands members couldn't work together anymore (Cyst and Jaime D) and some band members simply falling out of the loop (Mike V). This is when Cyst would decide to go about working on Polinoidal Cyst himself and would move the music in a very different direction.

Cyst moved to New York in 2004 and revived Polinodial Cyst by simply calling it PCYST. It is here that he began writing new material but would not release anything until the falling year.

After writing much new material and waiting for the Fall of 2005, Cyst would release the first EP under the name PCYST called "Kingdom Misery". He picked out the best 6 tracks of the 20 some he had written in the past year and they would go onto the EP.

It was around this time Cyst would go through some serious problems in his life and would have to make some life changing decisions. Cyst would check into a rehabilitation hospital not long after the release for serious drug abuse problems. Although Cyst did not agree with the teaching of rehab and of groups like NA and AA he had to push through and would sober up.

In 2006, Cyst would start re-analyzing the music he had written for Kingdom Misery and realized he could write much better then he had for that EP. Throughout the Summer through the Fall of 2006, Cyst wrote what many believe to be his best work. In October 2006, "5000 Years : A Tale of Winter" was released. This was the start of the new PCYST as it was more epic and more battle like then Kingdom Misery.

In 2007, Cyst changed his name to Cyosis as this would mark a new era in the legacy of PCYST. The name Cyst was old and meant nothing to the new incarnation of PCYST. In April of 2007, Cyosis would release the first full length PCYST album called "BloodThrone".

"BloodThrone" was met with bizarre feedback as it tried pushing the limits of what could be done in the Black Metal realm. Some loved it, some hated it and some just didn't understand it. Therefore, Cyosis decided to make it a limited release.

In June of 2007, Cyosis decided to write something a little bit different and released a short EP called "The Calling". "The Calling" featured two long tracks on it that were very epic but were very experimental at the same time.

Cyosis, thinking that the songs may be too experimental decided to start a side project that he could do anything he wanted with. The band is called Open Wide My Gates and is still a very experimental band with music ranging from Doom Metal, to Industrial, and Death Metal.

In July of 2007, PCYST did a split with the American Black Metal band Melody Virus. The split was strange as the two bands sound so very different from each other. Unfortunately, do to the fact that Melody Virus was an impossible band to get in touch with, Cyosis had to stop distribution of the split as he was not getting enough backing for it.

Throughout the next few months, Cyosis would get involved with Mournful Moon Productions. A young company filled with a lot going for it. Cyosis would then decide to release his next EP through Mournful Moon Productions instead of releasing it through his own label, PCYST Studios.

The EP was released in October 2007 and is called "A Wolfen Path". The EP's purpose is to revisit old PCYST tracks by remixing them and to release new material to show the progression of the band in the last two years.

Now, Cyosis is currently awaiting an official signing with Mournful Moon Productions and will be planning on releasing another split with a band in Ireland called Bestial Creation. Next year, PCYST will release it's second full length album.
