Biografie : Myrkgrav

What was, what is and what will be: A question which has haunted many a mind over many a century, I believe. There is little to no doubt that in order to understand how and why we are here today, we must know something about our past; our roots and heritage. This is what Myrkgrav stands for. By exploring the rich local history from the area where main-man Lars Jensen has lived all of is life and bringing it out into music and lyrics, it is tried to make a vague attempt to prevent old knowledge from going into the infamous book of oblivion.

Ringerike, Hole, Lommedalen and Sørkedalen are the areas which are given the most attention in this search for old, and they do indeed contain what can seem to be almost endless amounts of important and less important stories, tales and memories. It is culture, it is tradition - it is a part of history, and Myrkgrav does by no means whatsoever have any intention of letting these invaluable stories be forgotten under the dust of time. Do prepare to be brainfed more folklore and local history.

Conventional biography:

Myrkgrav was founded by Lars Jensen in the beginning of 2003, as a one-man project. The first record to be unleashed under the name of Myrkgrav was the 2004 demo Fra Fjellheimen Kaller..., a Black Metal based record with some Viking influences. The demo sucks, by the way (well, I think so at least). After this demo, Lars was given the opportunity to release his material on Det Germanske Folket Records. He decided to not merely release the demo professionally, but instead write material for a full length album.
After encountering an almost endless amount of problems along the way, the album Trollskau, Skrømt og Kølabrenning (Trollish Woods, Wraiths and Coalburning) was finally finished in the summer of 2006 and released in October that same year. It features eleven Folk-inspired Extreme Metal songs with a lyrical inspirational basis in old stories and tales from the municipality of Ringerike in Norway, where Lars grew up and still lives.

Since the band appreciates making sure of that what it releases holds a certain quality, you should be prepared for that it will take a couple of years before anything new is unleashed under the name of Myrkgrav.

Myrkgrav will NOT be related with any party-political ideologies, so keep your pieholes shut about that, will you.
