Magog was started in the early days of 1997 by Hvergelmer and Elgareth. Our intention was to create quality black metal with melodies. A thing not very common back then... Later on we developed our music into something more unique. After being a two man band, we recruited our bassman Astaroth which worked as an ignitor for our band. The rehearsals gave more and we became more productive. Our desire for another guitarist led to the discovery of Asateerul. Now working as a four-piece band everything felt satisfying. Now some old songs where trashed, and the production of new songs with two guitars started to take their form. With still a rather small amount of complete songs Magog decided to enter the studio. The first S/T demo was created containing four songs.
Our music took a sudden turn and began developing into something referable to as folk/viking type of music. With a larger amount of songs in the luggage we came up with the idea of asking a violin-playing friend if he had some interest in black metal. Guess what? We tried him out and it worked perfectly. Eldhrimnir is now a member of the black metal war batallion of Magog. Now consisting of five members and an even larger library of songs we decided to create a new demo (Kingdom of Odin).
