Biografie : Lord Impaler

By Necroabyssuss:

It was at the end of September 1998 when I left "Dark Side" (a metal/rock/something band where I played with some older members of Lord Impaler) and decided to form an extreme band. Hatzikidis was the only one who followed me at that time and was he who gave us the name "Lord Impaler". Few days later, T.Karataglidis -our first bassist-, Azaghal and J.Melidoniotis -our first drummer- left Dark Side too, and joined us.
The 2nd of October was an important day for us: it was our first appearence as a complete band. That week we started writting some shit and rehearsing. But the first clouds came quickly. We had to get rid of Melidoniotis, and so Hatzikidis -who was our guitarist- decided to play the drums from then on. With George behind the drums we made some progress, but even more problems came out then...
Karataglidis, who was really excited the first days, became the troublemaker two months later. He wanted to rename the band and he never practiced the songs we were playing. At that time, Lord Nebulah came in the band. We did great steps forward, except Karataglidis, who was pulling us back to nowhere. Hatzikidis grew tired of this shit and left the band, but thankfully, Lord Nebulah knew a drummer. John Sotiriou became the next member of Lord Impaler, and we started the work immediately. Karataglidis kept creating problems and so we kicked him out of the band. We asked from Hatzikidis to rejoin us, and so he did! That same week Nosferatu joined the band, and we started to walk a more majestic path... A new era begun for Lord Impaler.

With Hatzikidis as our bassist we recorded our first demo "The Lord Impaler". Actually it was only a rehearsal recording, with awful sound (it was recorded on tape and later copied to cd), but it was a progress. And it was the only progress we made for 6 months, since the only other thing we did that year was a live appearence at Oxia (1st "M.O.K. on the rock" festival).
We played that first gig at 30 July 1999. It is natural for us to remember this day, since it was the greatest thing we had achieved, but the strange and "funny" things that happened that day are surely more vivid in my memory (like let's say the drunken sound engineer, the power problems, and the fact that all the bands played without a sound check and with no monitors!!!).
September 1999. Lord Nebulah went to Athens for studies, and the rest of us took the chance to sit back and relax. That is why John Sotiriou decided to leave the band. One year passed and we made almost no progress (to be honest we only wrote 2 songs).
In June 2000, Natassa Hasapi and Pantelis Koulouklidis joined the group, Lord Nebulah returned for summer vacations, and so we began to rehearse. One month later we gave our second gig, again in "M.O.K. on the rock" fest. In September Nebulah left again to continue his studies and again all was silent...
