Driven by the passion for 80's-infused Heavy Metal, HellreX was founded in summer 2014 in Vienna, Austria. The first line-up featured Mike on drums, Schurl on bass, Mat on lead guitar, Nik on lead vocals as well as the founder of the band Gabe on guitars. True to their musical roots, the 5-piece band set out to contribute to Austria's resurgent metal scene through teaching their New Steel at every corner.

HellreX is clearly influenced by the energetic sound of pioneering hard rock and heavy metal bands of the 70s and 80s. While it is their aim to honour the legacy of their idols by reigniting the fire of those days gone by, the band is still determined to follow their own musical path. Compositionally, the band strives for striking a balance between delivering intoxicating hooklines and praising the vast musical depth and manifoldness that heavy music has to offer.
Throughout their first year HellreX played a number of successful shows at home and abroad continually building up their fanbase and their reputation as an intense live band. The end of 2015 saw the release of HellreX's demo ´Reigniting the Fire´. The demo features the two thundering studio songs ´New Steel´ and ´Blade Brigade´ as well as a live version of their fist-pumping hard rocker ´Loud N' Heavy´.

The departure of drummer Mike at the beginning of 2016 marked the beginning of a new chapter for HellreX. Within just a short time the line-up was completed with Alex taking over the drums. Now the band is set to spread the spirit of their passion far beyond the towns and cities of their motherland.
