Grotesque first began in June of 2004 as the brainchild of Perth resident Marc Hawkins, his goal was to begin a new breed of death metal and not adhere to the modern trends of the day. Over the course of the next 12 months, the line-up we see today was gradually coming to shape. After months of double rehearsals every week, the band had then written the material they had been striving for and now accomplished, mixing the similar yet diverse tastes of each member to collaborate and produce what we know today. Mark delivering his brutal and technical guitar riffs mixed with the relentless blasts and unbroken kick patterns of Trevor combined with the insane finger picked bass of Simon and the devouring gutturals of Tarren to make what most say as some of the finest home grown death metal the scene has ever experienced.
