A band originated from Iquique city. It was born in 1995, under the name of "“Kaníbal Kañero” when at that period the idea arose like a Project of a band reliving the old Hardcore of “The Accussed, G.B.H, The Exploited, Voivod, S.O.D among Others”. The changes of line-up and the creation of their own tracks were giving a different idea to the band and one complete musical Reconstruction that lasts to date with clear influence of bands like: Kreator, Destruction, Dark Angel, Obituary, Testament, Exodus and Sodom. The thematic that refers the lyrics goes in an ample affluent interval and mostly they are not very direct, but they are always in a sixth sense referring to hallucinations, histories of terror, vehemence, abuses of physical and mental authority, paganism, War, ideologies and experiences of the band, etc… Always on the hand of which at this moment is happening with them, the world and this fucking society that surrounds us. In 1997 its name changed to DEMENCIA. Then, they recorded a Rehearsal Tape by the end of ..98, which made them participate in a compiled “Estruendos del Metal” so as to ,then, release their first demo called “RELATOS” containing tracks like Insomnia, relatos, and dementes that was recorded in 1999 and released by the middle of the year 2000 in the Gig “Agresion enEscenarios”, then they participated in several local events and outside the Region showing a musical and scenic repertoire pretty heavy and aggressive one calling the attention of their first followers, also their songs began to sound in significant local means of broadcasting like national ones. The sound in reality is not bad, but it made recall a little bit to the 80's demos, their line-up at that period was: Giovanni R. (Voice and guitar) ex--DARK GOD, Octavio M. (Guitar), Fernando Y. (bass and chorus), and Henry P. (Drums) ex--ANTHROPINISM. By the middle of the year 2001, the band changed their line-up because of lack of commitment in the projects having an alternative formation: Giovanni Rivera. (Voice and Guitars); his brother, Leonardo Rivera is recruited (Drums and chorus) and Alex F. (Bass). Their second demo called “Síndrome del Abismo” is recorded, which as their first edition, contained 3 tracks: Opresión, Comercio Pagano and Muerte Silenciosa, selling about 200 copies at National level, sounding in local and regional radios (North and South of the Country). By the middle of the year 2002, the band began to find the path with a new line-up that was made up with: Giovanni R. (Voice and Guitar), Henoch P. (Lead Guitar), Rodrigo V. (Bass) ex--PORTENTOUS, and Leonardo R. (Drums and chorus). Two more new tracks were recorded: “Dementhrash” and “Agresión en Escenarios”, these ones together with their first demo “Relatos” were included like bonus tracks in a new edition of “Sindrome del Abismo” releasing 200 copies, but selling out quickly (7 tracks of the most pure and aggressive Thrash Metal, obtaining a better sound, excellent title page design and material cover). By the end of the year 2002 they work intensely in what their first visual work was, which in February of the year 2003 with edition and Professional semi recording (nonamateur), released their first video clip with their track already mentioned “Dementhrash”, a visual material very oriented to the classic old thrash, and published very well (in spite of being an independent production). Later, they recorded their third work called “ENGENDROS”, which counts with tracks like: Fobia, Dementhrash, Engendros, Opresión “live version” (as bonus Track) and also it includes their Work in Video clip. Honestly, a truly brutal production, with an analogous sound by far weight and true metal taking into account very technical and original ideas, and therefore an intense and a much more brutal (direct to the vein). Unfortunately, after this work the band underwent a new change of member but this time Henoch P. The band continued fighting and after several attempts of searching and castings with guitarists, Pedro B arrived. (ex- member of Portentous and Disaster). The band found the ideal guy to replace Pinilla. Later, at the beginning of the 2004 the band still remains with the same line-up, Pedro slowly felt comfortable in their promotional tours of Engendros, but in the already composition of new tracks the acclimatization was simplier, therefore the line-up is: Giovanni Rivera (voice /guitar), Pedro Bruna (Lead guitar), Rodrigo Villar (Bass), and Leonardo Rivera (Drums and chorus). Throughout that period the band shared stage with bands of international tone having incredible acceptance by the members and aggressive shows on stage. At the beginning of the year 2006 the band entered to record what would be their first L.P. A experience that has made mature much to each one of the members since they felt that what there was being recorded could give much of which to speak. Their first LP called ‘METALDISTORTION' has delayed a lot because the band has been victim of many offers in which they have not been agree. Also, they have been patients since their work has not been spread, but once it is released it will be a new work too by August of the year 2008 when there will be available at last. By the end of year 2007 they release a new single ‘NUCLEAR WAR' which include two tracks recorded in studio that will appear in the LP plus five live tracks compiled from year 2004 in which there are still available works from a second edition because the first one is not longer available in the market. In this moment, as mentioned before, Demencia is waiting for their new LP under AGRESOR RECORDS plus their second old promotional video clip besides several dates which will be managed so as to travel abroad in order to promote their brutal work. So far the clear thing is to have the major diffusion of their works that mark tendencies by the Old School but also at the same time living the present of the Metal.
