Deimos

Deimos hails from the north-banks of the Rivercity: San Antonio, Texas, not known for anything else except the Alamo. The band was formed in early 2000 by founding members Steve Fernandez (guitar/vox) and Derrick Rutledge (bass/second vox), both looking to take a stab at their own creations in the style of some of their influences and at the same time explore different aspects of the music.

With the entrances of Justin Leonard (drums/ percussion) in late 2003 and Matt Mayer (lead guitar) in early 2004, the true Deimos was formed. Over the course of the next few months the four wrote many songs and began to choose which ones they wanted on their EP, set to record in Jan '05. With the release of their four-song EP, Silence of Ages... (Feb. '05), word spread very quickly of the (mostly teen-aged) band's distinctive sound focusing in on elements of classic heavy metal and melody with lyrics based in science and oblivion.

The reaction of the EP spread across parts of the US and a few copies ended up in Canada and Europe. The name Deimos and the album cover of decaying circuitry dug its image into the minds and ears of many. Silence of Ages... got mention in several local/regional magazines, made it into the international pages of Explicitly Intense Magazine, and songs from it can be heard on numerous compilations across the US.

2006 brought the beginnings of a full length album. Heading into Noise Farm Studios in early March, the band was prepared to lay down their new creations. Dead::Set::Soul encompasses the style and feel of Silence of Ages... but with a higher maturity level. The eight song album was unleashed onto the unexpecting public on July 17, 2007. Dead::Set::Soul was picked as 18 of the top 25 Metal albums of 2007 by MetalEater.com's own Chief Editor, Brian Davis, being the only non-Major Label release on the list.

Silence of Ages... and Dead::Set::Soul are only the beginning of this young bands' career. Actively writing new material, Summer '08, and looking to begin pre-production for the first time on an album, Deimos is determined to make their presence heard, leaving us with, "Just wait... the new album is going to be fucking ridiculous..."
