Biografie : Deathead

Deathead began life in March of 2001 in Dallas, Tx. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Chris Jester, the band was originally called Tantrum and was quickly switched to Deathead after hearing that the name was already taken by another band.
Together with a few friends the initial line up was put together and lasted for a few weeks, and quickly petered out.
At this point, Chris decided it was time to relocate the band and picked up and moved to Ogden, Utah where he had lived as a kid. Having many musician friends there it seemed a wise move.

After several line up changes and different members coming and going. In 2004 the band finally settled with the line up of Chris Jester, Kelly Jester and Bassist Mat Smith and set out searching for a drummer. Soon they were contacted by an artist named Felipe Martinez who did some artwork for the band and was living in Chile. He informed Chris that he was moving to Utah and that he was a drummer. Upon arrival in Utah, he became the drummer for Deathead.

Together the fearsome four set out and began playing shows. In just a few short months, the band was tearing up stages with whoever would let em set up.
In December of 2004 Kelly announced that he was leaving the band.
The band then began working with Davidian's Dan Coxey as a fill in til a permanent replacement was found.

Kelly did return in March of 2005 to do a one off show with the band opening for Single Bullet Theory.

The troubles began shortly thereafter resulting in Mat leaving the band. As his replacement the band hired 19 year old bassist Alex Hinerman and in December of 2005 the band signed with Infernal Agony Productions and at that point Felipe decided to leave the band as he was returning home to Chile.

In came drummer Jason Kallas and the band set off with the line up of Chris, Dan, Alex and Jason.
It soon became an issue with Alex being 19 because the band could not get into the local clubs to play, and Alex was let go. And soon the band hired bassist Chris "Och" O'Shea who had played with Dan in a previous band.

Family problems arose with Jason and it forced his exit from the band and after a long search for a drummer the band found Matt Wulf.
Dan's responsibility with Davidian ended his working relationship with the band and Deathead set out as a trio.

The band performed live on July 13, and it seemed that their hunt had paid off. That night the band met bassist Mikey Durham and Och decided to switch to guitar and bring Mikey in on bass.
After one rehearsal as a 4 piece Och left the band due to family drama within his own life. Once again the band was a trio and Chris, Mikey and Matt set off to destroy.

In September of 2007 the band hired guitarist Bryan Fisher and finally all the planets were aligned. Unfortunately things were not meant to be. Personality differences between Chris and Bryan caused friction within the band, and with Deathead firmly entrenched in the old school sound, Bryan's focus on more "modern" sounds lead to him being asked to leave the band. Unfortunately upon his exit Mikey decided that he would go with him as the two had became quite close.

Bryan was replaced by Terry Day in January of 2008 and the band began rehearsing their set. In June of 2008 Chris had made contact with former bassist Mat Smith about returning to the band and it was at this time that Matt Wulf and Terry Day both announced that they were leaving the band due to what they said as "being unable to committ to what is required to be in the band" it appears that the duo had no interest in playing live or recording, they were merely happy to just get together and have a jam once in a while, and as things built up steam they noticed that this was way more serious than they have imagined.

With the two gone it opened the door for a full on reunion with not only Mat Smith but with Chris' brother and guitarist Kelly Jester, together the three are entering the studio with an as yet unnamed drummer and are laying down tracks for the bands new album, which hopes to be released in early winter of 2008.

No other plans are laid out at this point. Once the album is done the band will move on from there.
