During the last months towards the end of the millennium four men who were selected for immersing the minstrels’ way of life, met.
They called themselves Cornix Maledictum. When their method of playing and their style had become mature, the demand grew suddenly. Thereupon two of the minstrels took to their heels because of too much fuss around the band. So, only Ardor vom Venushügel and Steffen der Lautenschläger were left. A short while after, in the first spring of the new millennium, they were three minstrels again and covenanted, which made Cornix Maledictum more and more famous.
Their audience experienced unforgettable moments of enthusiasm, so that one often thought it sounded as there were six men on stage. Roads not only led them to medieval markets but also to gothic events like the Feuertanzfestival, the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, the Autumn Nights in Rabenstein and many more. They cast a spell on entire cities, performed in many clubs, on biker parties and weddings and they are an essential element of the “Prinz Eisenherz” pageants in the film studios of Babelsberg.
The crow is their symbol because for them this creature combines the destiny of their existence as minstrels – loved and at the same time scorned by people, always on the move, and just therefore dispersing euphoria, sheer lust for life and ecstasy. The malediction of the crow weighs on them to all eternity and they are doomed to play until their passion will be transferred on you and will have sparked off the fire of ecstasy.
