Becoming Akh officially came to be in the summer of 2009. Originally it was a 2-man deathcore project called Season of Fear between friends Josh Lefferts and Chris Wittren. Both wanted to create something memorable on top of being brutal. Josh eventually left for a little bit to pursue a career opportunity, leaving Chris in charge of doing everything himself.

Chris had begun producing prior to the project being started, and eventually added elements of ambiance and dissonance. Before Josh returned, the project had to not only change it's name, but also was taken back into a deathcore project. Chris then began again under the name Becoming Akh, keeping the ambient and progressive elements, and later down the line, added djent when the movement started blowing up.

As he was trying to get members involved, Chris started recording demos and released them on sites such as Myspace and Soundcloud. After improving his production techniques, Chris began work on a debut EP. Months of trying over and over to get some sort of stable release going, the self-titled EP was finally released in February 2013.

Now Chris has begun work on a follow-up EP, entitled Ascension, with many more plans to follow suit.
