The Band was formed in 1999 with Miguel Côrte-Real (vocals), Sérgio Carrinho (guitar), Hugo Ribeiro (Drums) and Bruno Ferreira (Bass), united with a strong will to create a melodic, muscled and powerful rock sound.

In 2002 and after one year in the studio, they appeared with their first demo entitled Estrada de Fogo. Its intention was to present Arya to the public and the press. This demo received the best reviews of the critical entities, earning them lots of shows from clubs to festivals and even soccer stadiums.

In the beginning of 2003, Sport Club Beira-Mar (a major league soccer club) invited Arya to write and record their new official club anthem, which plays in every Beira-Mar game in their EURO 2004 stadium.

Still in 2003, Arya assured a record deal with Recital Records for their first album. It's a Double CD, with the album sung in Portuguese and English simply called Arya and it was released in June of 2004. It also includes a special appearance of Manuel Freire on the track Pequenos Deuses Caseiros. The album was played all over television, with 3 videos and a special live Tv show. Radio played all over the land and received excellent top reviews from all of the press, having been considered the Hard Rock album of the year in 2004 and also Arya as the Best Hard Rock Band in Portugal.

After a winter tour in 2004 from north to south of Portugal and Spain, with a live video before 25.000 people that really gave the first kick to the tour, where Arya showed the drama, strength and power of their music, the band started counting on the presence of Nuggy on bass. His Rock, his power became an important strength for the band.

The presentation of the new Arya line up was in the beginning of 2005 with a show at Hard Club in Gaia. This was the first of many shows throughout the year. A summer tour followed, with shows all over Portugal, seen by thousands and thousands, presenting the album outdoor and playing the longest Hard Rock tour until then.

From January through March 2006 and after five months of hard work, Arya was busy in the studio recording their second album, produced by Ricardo Fernandes. The band's ambition is enormous, as well as their approach to do something truly new and different. The "Gospel" female vocals with the classic, electric and Hammond pianos that will strongly mark their presence are something and the fusion with the band´s powerfull sound gives a unique identity to this new record. The album is called "Dancing Among the Tribes" and songs like "Grounded", "Say my name", "Tell me" or "Higher" will features the record, that is expected by everyone to be the nº 1 album in Portugal. Our part is done.

The band recorded this summer a concert in the Northern lands before 16,000 rockers, where the new album was presented live for the very first time. The DVD, "Dancing Among The Live Tribes" will see the light of day in 2007, but the LIVE video from the song "Grounded" is already online at www.Aryamania.com and www.myspace.com/Aryamania, and it will travel everywhere as well as the NEW studio video that the band made for the same song. The two videos are now avaiable.

In 2007, Arya will perform live with the Orchestra of Aveiro at the Municipal Theater of Aveiro. Songs from the band's two albums, a new theme and orchestrated rock versions of traditional and popular Portuguse songs from names such as Zeca Afonso, Amália Rodrigues or Dulce Pontes. The songs are real anthems to the Portuguese history, culture and to the 1974's revolution, that brought freedom back to the people. Band an orchestra might be touring together. This concert will be sung in Portuguese and shall be released also in 2007.

This new album will bring something really new to rock and is the step the band wanted and needed to raise their spirit to a higher level. A new live show will be presented, where the audience will be the center of the concert as the 8th member on stage, a night of pure ritual inside the tribe. A cerimony, a well of all emotions known to man, believe what you hear, it is true!!!!!
