Hailing from various places in northern Sweden, An Abstract Illusion was formed in late 2007 by 5 happy lads playing songs by Metallica, then Cannibal Corpse and Death, which ultimately lead to only playing own material. Their songs incorporate many different styles, like in ‘Chameleon of the Clouds’ where the song progresses from an ambient guitar tapping-intro, to a clean jazzy section, then onto melodic death, to a sonic landscape created by huge epic chords with sweeping arpeggiated piano over it all while the song’s coming to a close.
The band has released three demos, ‘Illuminate the Path’ (2010), ‘Of Clouds’ (2011) and most recently, ‘Vakuum’ (2012).
