Biografie : After The Last Sky

Winter 1997 spawned the earliest incarnation of After the Last Sky…..loud, extreme but flawed. Line-up changes and general improvement to every aspect of the band paved the way to a colourful history which seven years later has brought them to a cohesive sound. Compromise was not on the agenda, and the band has watched trends come and go without interest in steering the band in any such direction.

Currently the band are ecstatic to be playing regular shows again and working towards a definitive representation of Blackcore - the self-proclaimed sub genre (with tongues planted firmly in cheeks) that best describes their sound. The latest recording ‘The Essence of our Art is Hatred' is out now, via a collective of D.I.Y labels which include ‘Circus of the Macabre' and ‘Ignore this' records. This is a split CD with Nottingham's filthy necro-grinders Inert.

By taking a spectrum of influences on board, without the fickle concept of “staying true” to any specific pigeon hole, the band move on. It is unlikely ATLS will ever truly be happy with where they are, and if that does happen then it'll be over.

With the integrity and commitment that this band promotes, the journey goes on with a hunger to progress beyond their present achievements and to tear down any walls that hold them back.

Whether you love or hate the band is inconsequential, After the Last Sky fight on with defiant words and challenging music.
