Biografie : Adrenaline Kings

The ADRENALINE KINGS were founded in Vienna, Austria, in the spring of 2002 by American guitarist Matthias Schneider and drummer Florian Hartl as a Hardrock/Melodic Metal band influenced by the SCORPIONS, DOKKEN, MÖTLEY CRÜE and METALLICA’s Black Album. After adding Paulus Unterweger as a second guitarist, the band spent the rest of that year writing new material, rehearsing and auditioning singers. At the end of 2002, Bernhard Högl joined the group on vocals.

The ADRENALINE KINGS played their first shows in Vienna and Lower Austria in the spring of 2003 with Paulus Unterweger’s brother Hanni on bass guitar before Alex Jilg joined the band as a permanent member. Throughout 2003 this line-up continued to hone its skills as a live act and refine its song material.

In the spring of 2004, the band entered the studio to record their first album. But despite the demands of the studio, they still had the time and energy to play at the famous Donauinselfest in Vienna. At the end of the year the self titled debut album was released by STP Records.
For the next 12 months the ADRENALINE KINGS played one gig after another in Austria – for instance again at the Donauinselfest - and in Leverkusen, Germany, developing a reputation as a formidable live act.
In the early part of 2006, Bernhard Högl announced his decision to leave the band due to time constraints. The ADRENALINE KINGS worked together with vocalist Nick Harras from the band CODEX for several months before Matthias Schneider took over as the band’s permanent vocalist and front man. Even through all these changes they performed almost constantly live on stage – as support act for U.D.O. and W.A.S.P. and gracing the billings of the “Stereo am See” festival and the “Rock am Schrott” festival.

In early 2007, the now quartet entered the studio to record their second album. These sessions were to stretch out over a year’s period as the band not only crafted the new record but also starred again at the Donauinselfest and supported JON OLIVA’S PAIN and BLACK STONE CHERRY. In October 2008 the Adrenaline Kings released their second album “Last Days Of Ancient Rome”, again through STP Records. Mixed by Niko Stössl and mastered by Gerhard Pichler, the 14 tracks are a testimony to the band’s more compact sound and solidified line-up.
