My name is Bob Hughes and I am the drummer for Citadel. Well I guess I'll start from the beginning.

I was born into a family of musicians. My father and two older brother played the guitar. I've been around music all my life. Listening to bands like the Beatles, Van Halen, Kiss, growing up. I'm kinda the so called “black Sheep” of the family.

Not sure exactly how I became a drummer. I guess I have my brother Sean, and Jason Carr to blame that on. Growing up painting our faces like Kiss I always painted mine like Peter Chriss. I guess it kinda stuck. I definitely had the knack for it.

Then one year Jay got a guitar for his birthday. A month later, on my birthday, I got my first drum set. Jay and I started jamming in my basement with my older brother Sean. Every Memorial Day and Labor Day, Jay, my family and I would set up our instruments up in the back yard and jam all day long.

I miss those days... playing with my dad and brother... always a good time. Jay and I started to writing our own music, but we got to a point where we needed a singer to move on with the project. We went thru a few singers before we started handing out with Will Shull. He did some singing, and like the same music we did. So we asked him to try out. He liked us, we liked him, He got the job. We were lucky enough to find a kick ass Bass player named Chris Elliott to complete the group...

There you have it my friends Citadel was now an entity. We played together for many, many of years at block parties, bars, even baseball fields. It was an awesome ride, but then we started to grow apart. Members started doing their own things and then Citadel was no more.

I've been in a few bands in the 15+ years since Citadel departed ways, but now that we are back together, man I'm glad to be back jamming with the boys from the hood again !
