Aria Kim
Lunar Legion
Aria Kim (김아리아) – Lead Vocals & Lyrics
Born: March 21, 1964 — Busan, South Korea
Active in Lunar Legion: 1984 – present
Aria Kim is the voice and spirit of Lunar Legion. Raised near the docks of Busan, she grew up surrounded by imported records from Japan, Europe, and the U.S. Her early influences included melodic hard rock, progressive ballads, and classical vocal training.
In 1983, after fronting several local cover bands, she met guitarist Luna Seo at a summer festival. Their chemistry sparked the formation of Lunar Legion the following year. Aria became the band’s principal lyricist, drawing on spirituality, love, and the silence between stars.
Her performances on Echoes from Beyond (1986) and Cosmic Angels (1988) established her as one of Korea’s most expressive metal vocalists—operatic yet fragile. On Silent Aurora (1992), her tone softened into a soulful, reflective style that embodied the band’s evolution.
