Has its moments, just has too few of them

Vampire Mooose is a metal band from St. Louis. I just say metal because it's hard to describe the genre. Nu metal mixed with groove metal with some hints of grindcore at times. An interesting sound. I feel this album doesn't do the band justice for the potential they have.

The vocals aren't the best. The same scream with no range at all except for the rapped parts in songs. You can't tell what the lyrics are, thankfully it does come with a lyric sheet but the lyrics themselves aren't good. Poorly written and hard to understand. Definitely not as good as they could be.

The guitar seems a bit off. The guitar sounds merky and hard to really hear what notes are played. Maybe bad production or shitty distortion but definately something that they need to fix and that I hope they fixed. The bass can be heard maybe alittle too much. Overshadowing the guitar at times because the guitar is low. Good bass but the guitar should be in the frint and bass used to make it more powerful. Not so bad guitar and bass work though.

The drums are good. Not super special but above average. The druns at the beginning of Spiderman Vs. Venom is a pretty catchy beat and it has a good steady rhythm. The drummer definately keeps pace and is the best part of this album. If the drummer gets alittle better, they could have something,

The way the songs are made gets boring. The biggest issue this album has is keeping the music interesting. Most of the songs, for example: Big House, Eye of the Knorm and Del Fontineau, have long instrumental intros. But the intros aren't interesting. It's easy to listen to the song for 30 seconds, get bored and switch to another song. They're just slow, dull riffs. The only song with a really interesting intro is Del Fontineau because the tempo changes from fast to slow. If they could change it more instead of just staying with slow, boring riffs in the first minute of a song, the problem wouldn't be here.

In all, 12/20. Pretty bad. The band has potential. I like their weird fusion sound. They just need to work on some flaws. My favorite song is Del Fontineau. I like the band, they just need to show that their capible of making an album that is worth suggesting to friends.
