... for fans of technically proficient thrash with a style and production that if you were

Well first and foremost I have to commend these guys for being diligent in pursuing their review… then I must chastise them for the material being in a digital format. I can’t speak for the masses, but I need a physical release, something tangible. Something I can touch, taste, smell and coddle while listening to and preparing my review. Oh well…

Upon my initial listen, the musicianship and songwriting really blew me away, technically progressive thrash with enough time changes and soaring leads to keep any metal head ecstatic for weeks on end, but I did not appreciate the raw vocals of Adrian Harris. The technical aspect of the music had me wanting, initially, to hear “cleaner” vocals like David Wayne or Matt Sinner. However, after a dozen or so listens Adrian grew on me and I must say his vocal performance is a great fit to the music and I really am enjoying it.

As been said and can be heard the production on this indie EP is lacking, mostly the bottom end, which could use a lot more punch, but it works to a degree (and I’m sure a budget was necessary to keep). When listening you can’t help but think of a slew of mid 80’s thrash releases. Myself, with the progressive technicality of the band’s songs, I kept thinking of early Metallica and their acoustic instrumental bits, but you can hear many many other influences (Kreator, Coroner, Exodus, Death, etc…).

The musicianship on this EP is quite promising. The technical aspect, speed and tempo changes are done quite well. Derek and Taylor Lambacher, this author’s self proclaimed “The brothers Grimm” are playing with an approach and sensibility of seasoned players. The technical proficiency in the rhythm and lead guitar playing is fit to be analyzed and tabbed for Guitar World.
Take the time to check Testimony out. Go to their site and spend the $5.00 for their EP. It is well worth the investment for fans of technically proficient thrash with a style and production that if you were not clued in you’d think was released in 1984. This certainly helps this EP stand out from the rest of the rest of the current thrash metal releases. I am quite looking forward to what’s next from these young thrash gods in training.
