Missed this record in 1996? Well, no more excuses now!

After the release in 2011 of Svartsyn’s latest (and good) album, Wrath Upon the Earth, Polish label Agonia Records decided to surprise fans of the Swedish band by re-releasing their long-time out-of-print debut “The True Legend”.

The band, Scandinavian in essence, always displayed from the start the particular crude atmospheres of Norwegian acts with the brutality inherent to the Swedish scene. Their first album was no exception. Maybe a bit more on the Norwegian side at this time with clear leanings towards the Darkthrone heritage, this album, which may not be considered Svartsyn’s best effort to date, is still very much interesting in its own way.

Released in 1996 by Folter Records, the band somehow reached the underground but failed to gain the large exposure they would eventually get with subsequent releases. The production was rather raw with simple yet efficient riffing, elementary drumming but it did sound like everything was muffled out making it too compact to make instruments discernible.

Thanks to Agonia Records, this debut has been exhumed for the satisfaction of many fans but instead of just reprinting the CD, the whole thing has been remastered from old master tapes to make it more on par with Svartsyn’s actual sound, not mentioning the new and improved cover art. Aficionados of the band who missed this release will now be able to listen to it on CD and for the first time on vinyl!

Designed for die-hard fans of Svartsyn as well as for archaeologists of the prolific 90's Black Metal scene, get your own copy until the Swedes come back with new and ass-kicking material!
