I've noticed a lot of bands joining in the '80s metal resurgence that seems to be taking place recently. Some of these guys haven't recorded anything as far back as 1982, but the movement hasn't gone unnoticed in the industry and one of the bands who've decided to try their hand at joining the fight is Megattack. With the release of Save the Nations, they're getting back in the saddle after a 20-year hiatus ... and it's entirely possible that they'll see some great success with this one.

Having never heard Megattack, I wasn't sure what to expect when I popped them into my CD player. I was greeted by an indescribable combination of melody and power. Maybe my opinion is tainted by my love for anthemic riffs, coupled with powerful rhythms, screaming solos and the obligatory A-rides, but I found myself playing air guitar more than once while listening to this album. Of course, there are many that'll try to classify Megattack as "butt-rock," but those of us with a bit of experience can fire back with, "If it wasn't for butt-rock, there'd be no stoned assholes like you !"

There's no question that Save the Nations rekindles the spirit of big hair and Spandex, but any one song on the CD will likely have you jumping David Lee Roth style in the middle of your living room ... maybe even in front of your friends !
