...never heard anything quite like this.
So I was driving in the car with my stepbrother, and we weren't really talking too much. I was getting fairly bored, when all of a sudden, my jaw dropped to the floor, and my ears jumped with joy. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was a mixture of power metal, melodic death metal, and a lot of metalcore. I know those subgenres don't sound good at all bundled together, but whoever these guys were, they were pulling it off track after track. I couldn't help but ask my stepbrother who this group was. He told me they were called
Mutiny Within. So what did I do as soon as I got back to my house? I went straight to iTunes, and bought the whole album.
First thing I noticed was that the vocalist, Chris Clancy, had the absolute best singing voice I have ever heard in any artist. The range of this man was simply unbelieveable.
And then add his scream into the mix, and you have the perfect metalcore vocalist. Lead guitarist, Brandon Jacobs, was just blistering with raw emotion in every riff and solo by adding sweeped and tapped arppegios, and very speedy tapped triplets.
And the drumming was just amazing from every crash to every speedy double bass roll. Bill Fore really outdid himself on this album. This is by far my favorite debut album.
And to be honest, I've never heard anything quite like this.
