This is a duo from around the Steubenville, Ohio area. A militant propaganda speech opens the CD with "We Declare War". This charges the listener into the song "Pax Demonica" that is a barrage of warfare styled black metal, ala Dark Funeral. A drum machine is used instead of a drummer, but this doesn't seem to hurt the release. If I was told it was a drummer, it would be completely believable due that the drums seem to carry an identity all their own as any good musician would do.

The propaganda again educates one with "The Improvers Of Man" and breaks into a spacey but phonically orchestrated "Before God (We Were Free)". The method seems to be Speech / Song / Speech / Song because "In The Company Of Wolves", which is more of a ritual. It raises the wolven agenda and leads the listener into "Lupus Satanica". This song is another blistering blazer but, by no means, stays defined to that as there also seems to be elements of some head-banging black'n'roll in there as well. The assault continues throughout the 8 songs, 30 minute CD, with the exception of a fantastic cover of Merciful Fate's "A Dangerous Meeting". Without any bad attempts at a King Diamond falsetto, as most bands would attempt, Tethra stays trve to the black metal course.

This is a pretty good go, first time out. This band isn't breaking any new ground yet, but they do have a feel all their own. You can smell this will be a unique band in the scene if they hold together and do more releases. Definitely worth having in your collection !
