ughhh... where to start when talKing about the new release from one of folk metal's once most promising bands, Eluveitie. This new album is one of the worst folk metal albums I've heard, and I've listened to quite a few recently.

First off, this "album" is just a bunch of old celtic poems and other garbage, there are no epic guitar solos or melodic death metal growls unlike their other 2 releases which I highly reccomend to any fan of Folk Metal.
This album consists of mainly female chanting and pan flutes, and that gets very obnoxious after 3 minutes, there's absolutely no metal influence in this ablum at all, so much for being a promising metal act, I have no clue how they will play these songs live either since they're old stuff uses guitars and other 20th century instruments, songs like Omnos and Brictom are the exact epitome of what folk and viKing metal shouldn't become.
There are some songs that start off promising and then fall straight on their ass with whining female vocals and repetitive folk instrument strumming which rank up the obnoxious factor to 11 on my scale. The only cool thing about the album is the artwork (if you consider that a selling point) which depicts the ancient pagan god, Pan.

In my opinion, don't waste your hard-earned money on this folk metal disappointment, however, their first 2 albums, Slania and Spirit, I highly recommend checKing out, very epic yet folkish at the same time.

Bottom line: this band was very promising, but this album shows Eluveitie's willingness to show off and sell out.
