I'm not sure if this is the intended reaction, but I found this hilarious!

I don’t know why, but I always love some really good brutal death grind, it seems to wake you up in the morning. There is just something about the craziness, lawlessness and incoherency that seems to attract me and I end up head banging along with the music in the end. Perverse Imagery is a wonderful example of a band which is not held back by any social norms or expectations when it comes to brutal death, death grind and porno grind which is just something beautiful in itself. Each track in the demo is only a minute or so long, there are the sounds of notable movies which doesn’t seem to fit in with the any of the at all but you still say “hey, its death metal… so whatever floats your boat” and the overall aesthetic of the music sounds rather playful.

I’m not sure if the person behind the one man project Perverse Imagery is actually serious about making a death metal band, or if this is just a parody of other death metal bands who just take themselves way too seriously. Because I just cannot help but laugh at Carnal, Bloody, Unatural and I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing to say about Perverse Imager. But, I might have a stab in the dark and just assume that he, himself doesn’t take this project too seriously. First of all, look at those damn track titles, they’re fucking hilarious- “Laughter and the Human Slaughter”, “Carnal, Bloody, Unatural”, Rancid Diarrhea Pussy… c’mon, you could you not find this even slightly funny.

Alrighty… time for the music. Like I’ve mentioned before, I’m not quite sure if Perverse Imagery were actually serious about making music and it’s definitely reflected on the quality of the music. Parody bands typically don’t sound all that deep. Well, not as deep as bands to take their music way too seriously. The music is fairly slow and sluggish, but like all half decent slamming bands it has some momentum to it and this is especially evident in the guitars. The drums however, just don’t sound right. It’s extremely obvious that a drum machine was used because of the one-dimensional tone to them (if am mistaken please forgive me, but that’s what they sound like) and I would not have minded if the drumming was just a little bit faster, but what we have here at this moment is just way too slow to create a potent impact. Speaking of potency, the pitch of the drumming is extremely ear piercing, which isn’t typically found in slamming death metal so this feels somewhat out of place in comparison to the rest of the instruments. The tone and power of the music, in my opinion seems rather cheap and shallow. But that doesn’t discount the fact that this is still some heavy ass fucking slamming death metal going on here. Just because the music sounds a little corny, doesn’t mean this cannot be enjoyed by serious death metal fans because after all… who gives a flying fuck, it’s death metal!

For a small time one man operation I must say, this is a kickass demo. Sure there are only three tracks total on Carnal, Bloody, Unatural with a total run time of about four minutes, but who cares if not “true” death metal or if the artist’s intention is to take the piss out of the overly-serious bands, it’s still death metal. However, it does seem rather cheap which I guess is and intergral part of the whole “parody” thing I guess. I recommended Perverse Imagery to anyone who likes heavy death metal, and Rancid Diarrhea Pussy is a good sample track for first timers. Overall, however cheap Carnal, Bloody, Unatural sounded, I think it still deserves a 14/20.

Zombie94 - 26 April 2012: Yes the drums on this are infact guitar pro midi drums. And yes the sound is incredibly cheap as you say, I only spent 4$ on some plug adapters. But my intention was never to be a parody band. I am serious about Perverse Imagery and I want to see it go somewhere, but you are right the music is really simple and cheap compared to "serious" bands. I really enjoyed reading your review and hope to have you review some of my future stuff. If you want to hear more or keep in touch with the band look me up on Facebook or Bandcamp or Twitter, though the first two are inherently better. Also there is a blog. Cheers fuckers enjoy the "parody" music. haha.
