Saying “they harness slowly, but they ride fast” is exceptionally actual for a band from Russia, Saint-Petersburg ‘Der Galgen’. One was formed in October 2006, but their first show they gave only in January of 2008, after final line-up with present members in fall of 2007. The band became very popular not only in their native city, but in the Moscow too. And after a bunch of shows there and there, guys started an album record in the late summer. It was named “Willkomen Auf Die Todesstrafe”, which means “Welcome to the Execution” and released on December 6th 2008. The debut work of 'Der Galgen' combined melody of folk and power of hard guitar riffs, so as cheerful and hooligan moods and gloomy stories about cruelty and barbarity. Magic and fairy tales are neighbors here with executions – which happens to be the conception of a record – and bloody massacres. It gathered positive reviews from the fans of a genre and from the casual listeners. With slightly changed members ‘Der Galgen’ continued rocking with shows in capitals of Russia, and by the April 10th 2009 they released a completely new masterpiece – musical fairy tale Böses Los; it was published for free through the web. Böses Los is not just Demo or EP. It’s something more; Böses Los is fully loaded music piece with its own conceptual idea and unique atmosphere. Record represents gloomy story full of insidiousness and treachery, where is no place for compassion and pity. Each track is a logical and semantic sequel to a previous one, therefore creating by thus a finished composition of an inseparable tale. Music has matured, became more serious and graver. Fresh work was highly rated by fans. But ‘Der Galgen’ is not going to stop, they will continue to please fans of
