Combining black metal growls with female melodic vocals has been done before but Settima Draconis do

Hailing out of Italy, is very eclectic gothic metal with a very different style. Combining black metal growls with female melodic vocals has been done before but, Settima Draconis does it with a uniqueness that captures the listener’s attention.
The “Vengeance” EP starts with chugging riffs and Erik’s black metal vocals along with Judith’s beautiful singing in the background that slows down to a very haunting melody with acoustic guitar and sorrowfully played violins and then picks up speed with Erik’s power and fury.

“What Do I Have Left” is dark and melancholy with eerie piano played off the distance and harsh whispers that gives you chills. Melodic guitar sweeps in with Erik and Judith playing off each other’s vocals perfectly. The somber rhythm gives the track a very atmospheric feel to it as well.

“Secret Spring” is an amazingly done track that’s filled with a chilling and sorrowful ambiance that will have you mesmerized from beginning to end. Judith really stands out here with her incredible vocals. The demo closes out with “Bloodspawn” where Erik’s vocals ooze out with pure evil where he is met with Judith’s more melodic style. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first started listening to this demo but I was massively impressed with each track and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us in the future!
