Void of Sleep is a band hailing from Ravenna; the band has been formed in 2010 to the will of Gale (guitar) founder of the now-dead Conspiracy A.D., to complete the new band Gale recruits Allo (drums) already playing in Conspiracy A.D. and Paso (bass) guitar player for Buattitime and well-known producer and owner of the Studio73 and ex-Fear Studio (he worked with bands like Ephel Duath, This is a
Standoff, At the Soundawn, Extrema, Slowmotion Apocalypse...).

The new-born Void of Sleep starts rehearsing without a singer, and they begin to compose instrumental songs mixing both hard-rock stoner parts recalling bands like Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Orange Goblin and more “unusual” and atmospheric parts more similar to Neurosis or Tool.

After some months Burdo (voice and guitar) joins the band, he is an old friend of the three guys already playing in the Big House Burning and now he is also busy with the rock project The Blue Cantina. The four members start working and rearranging some songs of the former “trio” composing brand new songs together; in a few months the result is a blend of sludge, psychedelic, stoner and progressive sound where epic rhythms melt with doom slowdowns, complex time signatures and “musical storms”. The Void of Sleep's sound is clearly influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Mastodon, Down and Tool, but at the same time it is something more personal and mature.

By the end of the year, after almost eight months, since the new line-up had been defined, the band makes its first live appearance and in the following months it shares the stage with Unsane, Weedeater, Zoroaster and other local bands.

In June 2011 it's time for the band to enter the Studio73 for the first time and in just two days the band records, under the direction of Paso, a three-songs promo EP which immediately generates excellent and positive reactions. The EP, that has been printed just for the music insiders, is meant to be an appetiser of the first full-length planned to be recorded in the first months of 2012.
