H.O.S.T.I.L.E are a six piece progressive traditional, extreme, power, death, black, metal band hailing from the birthplace of heavy metal, Birmingham, England. Established in 1997, their aim is to combine all styles of metal music with intelligent song structures and humorous lyrics of the darkest variety. The progressive nature of H.O.S.T.I.L.Es music means that their songs tend to range from between 6 to 12 minutes long and take the listener on an interesting journey with unexpected twists and turns in both musical and lyrical content. H.O.S.T.I.L.Es dark and twisted sense of humour is expressed unashamedly through their song titles and lyrics. Tracks from their latest EP Hard and Fast in A minor include Sermon Stains (a 12 minute epic about the abuse suffered by a choir boy in the hands of a Catholic Priest), Urine Love (a heavy metal anthem about the joys of pissing on your partner) and Gays of Thunder (the tail of a Judas Priest fan whos life is changed forever when he finds out that his idol, Rob Halford, is homosexual). These lyrics are written with an intelligence and subtlety that surpass the childish simplicity of the majority of bands who have attempted similar parodies of metal and modern life. The musicianship, energy and humour of H.O.S.T.I.L.E are never more apparent than during their acclaimed live shows. On top of the technical wizardry one can also expect to see castle stage sets, hobby horses, an array of plastic weaponry and the kind of antics that would make even the most hardened metaller laugh (and cause everyones parents to hate us forever.) It really is a spectacle that has to be seen to be believed. H.O.S.T.I.L.E are currently working on their follow up to Hard and Fast in A minor which is to be a 6 track concept album based around the comical journey of their mascot Rygar. The main idea is to take a mundane task, such as travelling to the nearest shop for a pint of milk, and describe the events along the way as if they were seen through the eyes of the most truly metal individual ever to exist. The project is turning out to be the most diverse and uncompromising of all H.O.S.T.I.L.Es releases to date. For regular updates please see our website at www.hostilewarriors.co.uk.
