Biografia : Zero Gravity (BEL)

Zero Gravity has got its roots in the Belgian melodic Metal/Rock band Shadowdance .

Pieter, Marc and Dirk decided to form a new outfit to play some more progressive stuff influenced by bands like Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Fates Warning and many others. So in October 2001 Zero Gravity was born.

Trying to find the right people that share the same musical ideas and ambitions to complete the line-up was quite a problem at start. Several people applied for the keyboard and vocal duties but weren't suitable.

Out of nothing a guy who was eager to join a progressive band contacted the band. After a couple of rehearsals he turned out to be the right man for the job. So Johan Vingerhoed came into the picture to play the keyboards.

After some months of intense rehearsing the band entered "Dé Studio" in April 2003 to record four songs resulting in the "Synchronicity" demo. Guest vocals were done by Dorien Heyligen and Santiago Janssens . The demo got an overall positive response and great reviews.

In August 2003, the band decided to part with Johan and Alex Vanhaesendonck joined the band as new guitar player. Marc combined guitars and keyboards and new songs were written. The band had decided to head in a less keyboards kind of direction, but it turned out that keyboards still were a main instrument in the new ZG sound.

In November 2003, Sven Dupon joined the band on vocals. Finally the right guy behind the mike was found.

In April and May 2004 the first live concerts were played, but the band decided that the time was right to record some new songs with the new line up. They concentrated on writing and re-arranging 4 to 5 tunes. Besides his vocal duties Sven also turned to guitar creating new possibilities in song writing and sound.

In April 2005 Zero Gravity combined their forces with Before Silence ( www.beforesilence.com ) and Eject ( www.eject.be ) and offer a 3 band live package.

In April 2005 Dé Studio was booked again and 4 new songs were recorded:

• Passages

• Subside

• Lost in Transition (instrumental)

• Revelation

The new demo 'Passages' was released in July 2005. The reviews are quite positive (check the press section).
