Biografia : Mononc' Serge

Mononc' Serge (real name Serge Robert) is a Québécois musician who sings in French and is best known for his extremely (often exaggeratedly) vulgar lyrics and his irreverent songs making fun of local celebrities and politicians. He is also quite sardonic with the Quebec federalist movement, and their counterparts in the rest of Canada.

He played as a bassist for the band Les Colocs until 1995, then began a solo career as Mononc' Serge. His albums include Mourir pour le Canada, Mononc' Serge chante 97, Mononc' Serge chante 98, 13 Tounes Trash, and Mon voyage au Canada, the last of which contains one song for every Canadian province and territory, mostly making fun of each of them.

In 2003 he teamed up with the heavy metal band Anonymus, and released an album named L'Académie du Massacre, which contains metal versions of Mononc' Serge's songs, along with a few new compositions. They have also released a DVD, named La Pâques Satanique.

Mononc' Serge's most recent album Serge blanc d'Amérique was released in March 2006.

"Mononc' Serge" is Québécois French for "Uncle Serge".
