Latrodectus was founded in January 2000 by Arkwolf (drums, Crom (guitars), Count Necurat (voc), Shyvv (keyboards) and Nemesis (bass). Nemesis has been replaced by Likk in October 2002.
Latrodectus is the scientific name of the most terrific spider in earth : the Black Widow ! The musical concept of the band deals with solitude, darkness and with the terrible mortal power of their animal's symbol.

In september 2001, they released a self-product mini-Cd intitled “Darkened Abyss”. It was recorded by Stéphane Buriez and François Jamin (Loudblast) at the LB. LAB studio . The record was marketed and distributed by Adipocère Rec. Thanks to “Darkened Abyss”, the band establish its name around the french & european underground Metal scene.

During the summer of 2002, Latrodectus signed a deal with Adipocere and entered the Drudenhaus studio with producer Xort (keyboard of Anorexia Nervosa) in order to record “Altered Flesh”. Xort has handled also the mastering of this debut album. The result is a sound's flood of darkness and power thanks to the amazing production of the record... “Altered Flesh” has been released at the end of décember 2002. The fantastic album's cover has been drawned by Bolek Budzyn which is now famous for his former work with Loudblast.

Latrodectus has shared the stage with bands like Scarve, Seth, Furia, Apostasia, Enthroned... giving to the band a strong experience of live playing.

With such a killer album, 2003 will be the year of gratitude for Latrodectus!
