Biografia : Devonian (POR)

The history of the Devonian starts in the middle of February 2000 in Almeirim, when António Lopes (bass player) and Ricardo Rodrigues (guitar player) decide to try new musical ideas.

In the end of April 2000 Nuno Marecos (drummer, ex-Ciborium) joined the remaining elements.

The first rehearsals with this formation were made, and short time after, good results appeared. However, in their musical environment that reflected the desesperation and the gothic melody touching the alternative rock, a voice was necessary.

In November 2000, they spread some flyers searching for a feminine voice that completed the requirements intended for Devonian. Ana Filipe after some auditions was chosen as the main vocalist of the band, giving another dimension and a new approach to the songs.

In middle of February 2001, Ricardo Rodrigues suggested to his friends that it was necessary a new and bigger musical affinity at the level of composition and harmony. Later on, Ricardo Patrício (keyboards) was invited by António Lopes to make some auditions with the band, being accepted.

In February 2001 the band made one year of existence having already recorded a small demo, intitled "Fields". Devonian, the definitive name of the band was chosen in March 2001. In March 2002, António Lopes decided to leave, not for personal reasons but due to musical misunderstandings with the remaining formation.

The entrance of a new bass player happened in April 2002, Diogo Cocharro brings to Devonian the passion, the motivation and the technique that lacked in their compositions. It's between April 2001 and July 2002 that Devonian make their first concert, with positive reviews. In August 2002 was created and drawn in their home studio their first demo, "Thy Loss".

In January 2003 Nuno Marecos (drummer) is forced to leave, not for divergences with the band but due to very strong personal reasons. At the same time João Henriques steps in, and brings a new dynamic and powerful rhythmic base for the band.

Devonian, is the interconnection of different musical influences of each element, resulting in something that sounds like many styles but doesn't want to fit in a particular one.
