Biografia : Cantar (BEL)

Cantar's inaugural steps into the Doom-Death scene would be with the 1995 'Victim Of Your Imagination' demo. The group had been conceived a year earlier by by vocalist / guitarist Ruben Drijkoningen and drummer Kristof Naulaerts, making up numbers with the introduction of Filip Goris on bass and, in April of 1995, Hanne on violin. Initially a stand in keyboard player was utilised until the addition of Elke that June. With this formation Cantar recorded the opening demo. Subsequently Filip Goris switched roles to guitar and THE DARKENING's Tom B. was enrolled to cover bass duties. A second demo was projected but internal strife put a halt to proceedings as Elke exited.

Getting back into motion the 1997 ''Beyond The Last Breath' promo session found Tom Slegers contributing keyboards. The group then embarked upon recording of an ambitious trilogy billed as 'Lament'. However, this endeavour stalled in the studio and in 2001 both Hanne and Tom B. bowed out. The sessions were completed with the use of a guesting professional violinist. 2003 saw Cantar adding bassist Filip Vandeputte and violin player Caroline Boven. Cantar entered Redtape Studios in early 2005 to craft more demos.
