1. WRITHE

We’ve lost the ability to find
Beauty within this life
Left sinking for an eternity
There is no end in sight

All of those before us
Have suffered a similar fate

Our ancestors’ failures

We stand over bodies writhing in agony

An observation of what lies ahead
(for all mankind)
In time our fate will be revealed

As salvation remains
Just out of our reach

In the distance
The Earth consumes the land
As our names
Echo throughout the skies

This endless cycle
Leaves us broken and desperate
Revealing a shared connection
Amongst all who’ve taken
Their first or final breath
This passage remains
The only way out
As time swiftly follows

Any hope held onto by the ignorant
Fades away as quickly
As their morals bend
Stories of the final victory
Fall on deaf ears
For we all face our justified end

The attraction of life never-ending
Shields our hardened hearts
From the unsettling thoughts
Of these borrowed vessels

Lying in the garden
To preserve what remains of the soul
Will prove hopeless as all that we love
Is devoured from within
Those left standing will beg for forgiveness
As ashes cloud their vision
Lungs fill slowly with hands
Grasping tight

I’m here

The garden is flourishing
Amongst flames all-consuming

Inherit this pure existence
Free of depravity
This empty canvas awaits
Having life brought upon it
With soil now gifted new purpose
Of reshaping our past
Tranquility spreads through these valleys
With new hope that this solace may last

Grieve

One life for another
An offering perpetually undiscovered
To thrive
Man must suffer
The consequences brought forth
By actions of fallen brothers
