When I took a step into the land
Towards where the sound was coming from,
I felt the freedom in the air
I never wanted to let go.
Devoted my time
To go up the river,
When I got to the mountaintop
The snake sank his fangs in my flesh.

I've never thought I would see
my life flash before my eyes.

I screamed at you: Just leave me alone!
And for a while I could live free on my own.
Simply I grasped my fate
Didn't watch the world go by
Saved my sanity
And took my own path.

It became so unreal to see those faces I’d seen before,
To be in places, which I'd passed by when I was on the road.
I went further up the river
To sight the mountaintop last time.
