In the summer of 97, a seventeen-year-old kid named Linus Melchiorsen went to a party at his old school friend Martin Fogander. At this time, Linus were already playing drums in a band called "Hint". He was tired of his band mates attitude to becoming better musicians. They only wanted to play for fun. Martin Fogander also played in a former band called "Lost Divinity" as a guitarist/vocalist. He didn't cope so well with those guys, cause of his burning effort to become "one of the best". At this party, Linus came up with the idea of starting a new band. Martin was immediately exited by the idea! In the early autumn 97, the band started to rehearsal in "Lambohov"(a suburb to Linköping, Sweden) with the rhythm guitarist Nils Holmqvist. Linus came up with the name "Iron Claw", which they called themselves for about a month. The band started to develop some songs, but they weren't very satisfied with the result. They started to rehearsal more. In the winter 97, "Iron Claw" moved their rehearsals to "bullerbyn" in Tannefors (also a part of the town Linköping). They started to test some bass-players, but no one were good enough except one guy, but he didn't have so much time, cause of his education. After some months they met Uffe Tillman (drummer in Isengard). He said, "maybe my brother can help you. He's a bass-player". That's how Janne "Goat" Tillman joined the band. The name "Iron Claw" changed to "Powerdice" (with C) Powerdice started to perform live, and they felt that "they could give the audience what they wanted". Melodic power, speed, heaviness and harmony! So far, the band didn't meet any trouble, but at this time Nils Holmqvist suddenly retired from the band. Powerdice, were however not so sad about it. From summer 98 to mars 99 the band were absolutely "locked" inside the rehearsalroom. They worked on the materials and tried to achieve the very best they could in writing songs. At that time Martin met a guy named Mats Pettersson in school who were playing keyboard. As soon he got the chance, he joined the band immediately. Powerdice changed their name to "Powerdise". In April 99 they did their first studio-recording. Because of the lack of vocalist, Linus had tossing. Powerdise were pretty satisfied with the result, but they realised that they have to do some changes with the sound. However, it is their first recording, but definitely not their last. After the recording the band needed a vocalist Linus Melchiorsen met a guy called Christer Goransson and after some persuasion they got him to enter the band, at last we Powerdise were a whole band. Once again the band is locked inside the rehearsal room and is working on their first full-length album. If everything goes according to the plans Powerdise are heading for Gothenburg in mars to record.
