Biographie : Lifend

Lifend (My Dark Side in the early days) was born in September 1999 by the fusion of two bands: Haternal and Mourning Star, giving birth to a gothic-doom oriented project with British-Swedish influences. After a first period of sound experiments the project My Dark Side had his first line-up change: the new bassist Rob replaced Ilario, and the band also decided to change monicker into a more direct and incisive one that could express the sound and the soul, becoming Lifend, in a better way.

Entwined Emotions, promotional mcd published in 2001 (4 trks, about 28 minutes), is the first production and cause of the first positive comments by the critics. There's a correspondence between this particularly productive artistic period and a radical change in the musical point of view of the band to emphasize the live attitude. The sound becomes more extreme and dynamic, but also more melodic and dramatic. This new sound gives birth to the terms we use to define our genre: Inner/Death/Hybrid, a personal mixture made up of a non-conventional techno death-black with acoustic parts, a particular use of synths and keyboards and three different kind of vocals, melodic (male and female), screaming and growling.

During the years 2002/2003 two new self-productions (the mini cd Shattering: Realityand the live cd Live|end) had a very positive response from the selling and critics points of view. They were both supported by many gigs around Italy with bands like VII Arcano, Greyswan, Node, Novembre, Mater Machina (and many more) to promote our music.

During the years 2004/2005, after the replace of Damiano with Andrea on guitars, the first full length album on the long distance, Innerscars, was released by Cruz del Sur Music with a worldwide distribution: about 58 minutes of really evocative and interesting music in which Swedish death riffs, acoustic parts, saxophone, non-conventional synths and three different kinds of vocals meet together creating emotional and incisive moments.
Very particular shows followed during 2005 to promote Innerscars, sharing the stage with international extreme acts like Samael and Flowing Tears. A new line-up change followed with the entering of the new and technic bassist Simone Baccaro and the departure of Sara from the band. So, the sound, more incisive and aggressive, is evolving with the entering of the young and very talented violinist Laura.

The band is now producing new and original material for "DeviHate", the follower of the debut Innerscars, an album that will see the light during Winter, 2006
