Holmgang was formed in 2001 by Sorg, Vale and Ynleborgaz
In 2002 Thorgrim was recruited, and the demo tape “I Vinterens Favn”
Was recorded in the Torture chamber of Holmgang.
Material for a full-length was quickly written, and after a few live-shows in Copenhagen
we once again set up for recording in the Torture Chamber.
The outcome of a weekend under the influence, was the album ·Runens Advarsel· with it's 8 songs,
and among them, re-recordings of the 3 songs from the demo.


In march 2006 the recording of the second album ·Gengangerens Kvad· took place in Ark Studio.
Right after that, we played our first show abroad. Namely at the Calling For Battle 1 in Germany
A couple of more shows in Copenhagen were played and Sorg decided to leave the band.
We proudly introduce VREDE as our new bassist.
