In september 2003 Royy Vermeulen (Autumnal Reaper / ex-Pleurisy) & Waltr Verschoor (Kooz Killz Applemooz / Autumnal Reaper) formed Graven Image as a project band. At the end of 2003 / beginning of 2004 it became clear that Graven Image was much more than just a project, especially after Harro Lippmann (ex-Am Tuat) & Arno Rensink (Am Tuat / ex-Shadowlord) joined up. Graven Image became a real band and started doing live shows in january 2005.

Since that time Graven Image has done several live shows with bands such as Occult, Autumnal Reaper, Monolith Deathcult, Screamin'Daemon(U.K.), Lab Rat and Mortal Form (to name a few). One of these live shows has been professionally recorded and released as official live-CDemo, simply entitled “Death Metal Bastards”.

In August 2006 Graven Image has welcomed a new drummer. Ask Ty Arctander. Who is the drummer in Norwegian metalband Kampfar as well. Former drummer Royy is now vocalist in Graven Image.

We don't like to compare ourselves with others, but we can reveal that Obituary, Benediction, Bolt Thrower & Carcass are Graven Image's biggest influences. Our Debut full-length CD, “Embodiment of Retribution”, is scheduled to be released by the end of 2006… untill that time; enjoy “Death Metal Bastards”!!
