Biographie : Exterminator (BRA)

Coming from the famous Belo Horizonte/MG, EXTERMINATOR was a band that appeared and disappeared in a hurry, having this record as the only recording. “To help”, the work was released in very few copies at the time, which reinforced the motivation to re-release it with a censored cover (the original contained swastikas and had to be removed by law).

The album brings a sound focused on Thrash and Black Metal, something very typical of the “Brazilian” bands of the time, with that typical characteristic and an innocence without size. The work is poorly recorded and performed, but it has that typical appeal that only national groups of that time possess.

With rough guitar timbres and a bass played directly, the highlight is the drums that show up to be quite varied for the standards. It is interesting to note that when the band sings in Portuguese, it brings politicized lyrics aimed at the labor society, showing that we have always had reasons to protest.

The work will sound totally indigestible to younger headbangers, used to overproduction, but it will be a breath of fresh air to the most nostalgic ones, not to mention that it sounds more interesting with each listen. “Total Extermination” may not be an absolute classic from a golden age of Brazilian Metal, but it is an interesting historical piece that marked its place in the scene. The reissue came out on black and colored vinyl.
