Biographie : Demonic Christ

Demonic Christ was formed in 1992 by Dana Duffey (then known as Satania) after the demise of the all female death/doom band Mythic. In the beginning Dana wrote all the music and lyrics for Demonic Christ using session musicians to record the first demo "Deceiving the Heavens" in 1993. Aragon Amori (RIP) of Profanatica helped out here. The tape was spread throughout the underground with the help of Osmose Productions in Europe and Wild Rags Records in the USA. Roughly 600 copies were sold. The first 100 copies were smeared with Dana's blood. Due to the success of the demo, Demonic Christ was offered a CD deal in 1994 by Robert Deathrage of the Meatshits for his new label, Morbid Granny which was to be pressed by and exclusively distributed by Moribund Records. At this time Dana dropped the corpse paint image and the pseudonym Satania due to the increasing trend in the Black Metal scene. By September there was a full line up for the band. They entered the studio in November of 1994 and "Punishment For Ignorance" was released in May 1995. After the recording, the drummer was replaced with a much more suitable musician and the band began to take shape for live shows. Demonic Christ played venues in New York, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina and the surrounding area. In 1995 a 2 song Promo Tape was released with the songs "Nocturnal Empire" and "Passing of the Storms", which was a vast improvement over the aforementioned CD. In January of 1996, Demonic Christ decided to expand their sound by adding a second guitarist. More shows were played and music was being written. The next release came out in June 1996 and was in the form of another 2 song promo tape including "Blut Und Ehre" and "Witches Fall", both which appeared on well known compilation CD's. "Blut Und Ehre" appeared on Dwell Record's CD "Awakening: Females in Extreme Music" released in Spring 1997. "Witches Fall" appeared on the 1996 Milwaukee Metalfest Comp CD. As Demonic Christ began writing new material it became evident that writing styles and goals became incompatible making it impossible to continue with this line up. Dana then split away from the rest of the line up to keep the original vision of Demonic Christ. Dana then got married and had a baby, putting music aside for a while. In the beginning of 1999 Dana got an offer from Dutch label, Cryonics Records to release a second CD. This release is a collection of songs from every demo release by Demonic Christ. It is entitled "Demonic Battle Metal" and was released in 2000. It is very rare being that the pressing was 250 hand numbered copies. It was also pressed onto picture LP by Belgian label Painkiller Records in 2001. This is an extremely limited press of 300.
Dana took some time away from the scene again to have another baby. After taking personal time it is now essential to breath life back to Demonic Christ... The pseudonym Satania has returned as well as the old school spirit which was the driving force behind the entity. With the addition of Proscriptor on drums and Sabathan on bass the new Demonic Christ will most definitely be the most intense matrerial to date. Recording for the new album will begin in Autumn 2006.
